Q What are the costs involved when purchasing a property?
A 1. All purchases will involve a solicitor. The fee you will pay is standard and will cover all of the conveyancing plus administrative costs to obtain your permission to purchase. This amounts to approximately ?1000. 2. Deposit, to be agreed with builder/vendor, usually an initial 10% is paid followed by staged payments. 3. Stamp duty 6% 4. Council Tax 5. Utility costs are minimal and are dependent on the size of the property. 6. Property tax is a nominal figure and is charged annually.

Q How does the Annan plan affect property purchases in the TRNC?
A After the April 24th referendum on the Kofi Annan plan and the resounding 'No' vote from the greek cypriot side the plan is no longer applicable for the foreseeable future. See the 'Buyer's Guide' for related topic on property title deeds.

Q Do we have to apply for purchase permits?
A Buying property is relatively easy in Northern Cyprus. All legal transactions, including the paper work, is carried out by your appointed solicitor
